What Is Rotary?
Australian Rotary Clubs are part of an international network of business, professional and community leaders who strive to make the world a better place through practical efforts. Through Rotary International, the reward of “paying it forward” unites men and women from different backgrounds, cultures, religious and political beliefs the world over, allowing ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

About Our Club
The Rotary Club of Appin Park (no Wangaratta ) in the name at this time, as a result of the then District Governor, Bill Purtell in February 1972, seeking the viability of a second Rotary Club in Wangaratta,
May 18th 1972 a Provisional Rotary Club, the second in the City of Wangaratta , was formed at a meeting chaired by Eric Van Leeuwen and held at the Wangaratta Club
May 29th 1972 the Rotary Club of Appin Park was admitted to the membership of Rotary International
22nd of June 1973 the club’s Charter was presented by the District Governor Bill Purtell to the inaugural club President Max Bussell, at the Wangaratta Town Hall. Twenty charter members. Seven of whom were former members of the Rotary Club of Wangaratta.Three were previously Presidents of other Rotary clubs.
The name Appin Park was adopted after the property “Appin Park” in the area then known as the western suburb of Wangaratta.
The newly formed Rotary Club of Appin Park prevailed on the Education Department to name the new Primary School Appin Park in lieu of the suggested name of “Wangaratta Heights”
